Welcome to ITLD at Syracuse University
This research team is a part of the Department of Instructional Design, Development & Evaluation (IDD&E) at Syracuse University, New York.
We are a group of researchers who are interested in examining roles of innovation, technology, learning, and design in informal and formal contexts. We examine how people including pk-12, post-secondary, and adults learn in diverse contexts such as online, massive open online courses (MOOCs), social media, peer learning, STEM, Flipped classroom, or emerging technologies. In addition, we are interested in designing theory-based learning activity and transforming learning environments to enhance students' learning engagement and achievement. |
We welcome diverse and innovative ideas and interdisciplinary collaboration. Our people have diverse experiences and backgrounds. We believe that we are all learners and learn from each other. Each one's unique expertise helps us understand human learning deeper in diverse contexts.
Using learning theories such as social cognitive, social constructive, cognition, motivation, epistemic beliefs, and self-directed learning as a theoretical lens, we examine, interpret, and develop our understanding about human learning. We employed quantitative, qualitative, and data mining techniques.
In addition, we are interested in designing and developing student-centered learning environments with the use of technologies and innovative approaches. We create various learning environments in a variety of content domains such as teacher education, science classroom, engineering education, health science, biology, interior design, and educational psychology.
